The Speed of Things

I was listening to KCRW a while back and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. came on the radio singing “If You Didn’t See Me (Then You Weren’t On The Dancefloor)” wow what a song! A great hook, cool melody and great lyrics. I thought “Beach Boy’sish” with something current and very cool. I encourage you to take this album out for a test drive, kick up the bass just a bit and see if these two Motor City guys can sell you their latest album “The Speed of things”. I’m sold. I’ll take one in gold!

If You Didn’t See Me (Then You Weren’t On The Dancefloor)

You’re supposed to surrender to the bass
You’re supposed to blend into this space
You’re supposed to stay just long enough to be felt
But you’re not there for the noise . . . the noise
You’re not scared of their voice it’s just noise
I swear if you didn’t see me you weren’t on the dancefloor

you should know by now
we’re just gonna keep on moving on
we’re just gonna keep on. . . on the dancefloor

you’re supposed to roll your hips in time
you’re supposed to see your age rewind
you’re supposed to pull me like the sun pulls the earth
but you’re not there for the noise . . . the noise
you’re not scared of their voice it’s just noise
i swear if you didn’t see me you weren’t on the dancefloor

you should know by now
we’re just gonna keep on moving on
we’re just gonna keep on. . . on the dancefloor

keep on
keep on movin on
keep on
keep on movin on
keep on
keep on movin on
keep on keep on
on the dancefloor

Kill for love

This is a great album to bring the New Year in. The album has been described as sounding like a “time warp … a warm collision of past, present, and future.” Play Kill for love at your New Years Eve party, you wont be disappointed. The album starts with one of my favorite Neil Young songs Into to the Black sung by Ruth Radalet with beautiful slow hollow body guitar work by band member Adam Miller. Check out the video of the title track it is very cool.

Kill for love – lyrics

Everybody’s got a secret to hide
Everyone is slipping backwards
I drank the water and I felt alright
I took a pill almost every night
In my mind I was waiting for change
While the world just stayed the same
Everybody’s got a secret to hide
Everyone is slipping backwards
I can’t remember if I like what I said
I can’t remember it went straight to my head
I kept a bottle by the foot of the bed
I put a pillow right on top of my head
But I killed for love
Everybody’s got a secret to hide
Everyone is slipping backwards
You say you see it almost every time
A little number counting back to nine
I can’t remember if I like what I said
I can’t remember it went straight to my head
But I killed for love

Enjoy the New Year – David
