I don’t need an excuse to listen to a World Party album, they are all great, but in case you do, here is some food for thought. None of the candidates running for president currently have a concrete plan to take on environmental issues and climate change. The Red Party front runners continue to cling to and pronounce the canard that climate change does not exist and that it’s a “Hoax”. The Blue Party acknowledges its existence, but the Clinton Foundation takes in big bucks from the oil and gas industry and promotes fracking abroad, and Bernie Sanders’ grass roots revolution, as noble as it is, still falls short in tooth and spelling out specifics on how to pay for and combat global warming.
This is the most important issue of our generation. Jobs, immigration, terrorism, civil rights, the economy…unless we fix this, none of that will matter. It’s not a scientific question anymore, it is a political one. So what is the plan? What are we going to do to change the trajectory we are on? “Show us a plan!”
Happy Earth day! It was 46 years ago that we started celebrating Earth Day. It was the brain child of Wisconsin Democratic Senator Gaylord Marble after he witnessed the ravages of the 1969 massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California. Earth Day 1970 gave voice to that emerging consciousness, channeling the energy of the anti-war protest movement and putting environmental concerns on the front page.
We should all be shouting for the environment to be on the front page. Please share that thought on this day if you agree. And get out and enjoy the World Party.
