Broken Bells – After The Disco 2014

Broken Bells

It’s been 4 years since the last release from Broken Bells, DJ Danger Mouse and James Mercer formerly of the Shins have made another great album “After the Disco”. Whoever said disco was dead was dead wrong. Mercer and Danger Mouse take a Bee Gees like sound to a new realm that I’m calling “electronica disco space music” with their new hit “Holding on for Life”. I have been wearing out this album if you can digitally.  So take a space flight to your favorite outer space indie-discoteque and feel the weightlessness groove of “After the Disco”.

Enjoy your space fight,

David

In 1992 a very fragile Eric Clapton stepped onto the MTV stage to preform his biggest selling album of all times. The multi platinum, Grammy winning unplugged recording came on the heels of the end of the Journeyman guitarist’s 20 year love affair with alcohol. Clapton struggling with the tragic death of his 4 year old son Conor delivers a set of songs highlighted by his biggest hit single Tears in Heaven which was penned to morn his loss, and never intended for publication. This along with reworked versions of Lonely Stranger, Layla, and the beautiful, moving rendition of Running on Faith are complemented by several blues classics to create this true master performance.

The 20th anniversary remastered edition of that performance was released last year. It includes a second disc with six additional songs, including acoustic versions of Circus and My Father’s Eyes which would appear later on Clapton’s Pilgrim album.

Enjoy
