Low Life

Don’t let anyone tell you that all music from the 8o’s sounds the same. There maybe similarities between the voices of some bands, but the ones that were out in front of the pack, set the standard. Emerging from the ashes of Joy Division, came New Order which created a large catalog of really great music.  This may not be the hip hop sound we’re use to moving to now, but at the time, these tunes pulsed and had real “swing”.

I personally came across them by way of Today’s Runner, Low Life. The album starts with the poignant Love Vigilantes a tribute to the men (and women) returning home from the war, and to those who did not. Very fitting right now. It’s followed by the perfect kiss of hypnotic, synthesized, beat strong music. Low Life is a set of intoxicating mixes from a Sub-Culture gone bye. Enjoy!
