The Whitey Album

 

Fanatic infatuation with the the lives of celebrities is not exclusive to recluses, and in 1988 core members of Sonic Youth and Minutemen bassist Mike Watt released this avant-garde tribute to Madonna and the pop culture of the 1980’s. The  Whitey Album is littered with tainted alternative covers of popular songs from that decade, packed with-in a twisted experimental soundscape.

Today’s Runner is not your typical album. The second track, which is one minute long, is titled (silence). But, if you make it through The Whitey Album the first time, you’ll find yourself wanting to listen to it over and over again. It is truly unique, and there is nothing else like it.
