The Eagles 1979 swan song The Long Run is a musical testament to the end of that decade. After much infighting and political posturing the band disappeared not to resurface until Hell Froze Over in the mid nighties. Even then, they never regain the creative brilliance of their seventies offerings. The Long Run was panned by critics possibly because of the time it took to be made, but probably because it came on the heels of their biggest album Hotel California. Regardless of what the critics said, the record delivered tons of air play, with three #1 hits, and is a great record to go out in flames by.
After all, “Who can go the distance, we’ll find out in the long run.”
